Jule is travelling again!! First stop: BERLIN!!! I took the train tonight or better said last night…and I paid 4€ for the trip!!! Usually it would be 20€ (or even more if you are not well informed..but I am one of the smart ones ;)). It’s a shared ticket and 5 persons can use it together…so I just started talking to ppl at the train station with success! I found 4 other guys who wanted to go to Berlin as well and joined me (and my ticket).

Eventually (after 1hour and 45 min) I arrived in Berlin and was welcomed by a smiling Jess. But I missed the flowers, marching band and red carpet…what happened??Where were those things?

Anyways…the plan tonight was to go to bed early…did not work out!!! STILL AWAKE!!

Tomorrow’s gonna be a looong day!!! Shopping (still need to buy a few things for Holland),meeting friends and going to see another Show/Musical! But I’m not telling you which one yet. I might do that tomorrow or so…

Last time Jess & I were reunited we forgot to take pictures…so to prevent the same thing from happening again we thought we might start taking pictures already!

Very pretty huh? Don’t ask how we came up with the motif!?? But that style’s gonna be hot…or not???  😉

When I checked the news this morning I thought the world was kidding me!

“King of Pop dead!”

What the f***!?!! I still don’t know what to say or think…its unbelievable and I can’t find words for that. He is(was)such an icon I never even thought that he might die someday. So what happened? Heart failure? Or misuse of medications? I mean he did not look very healthy anyways and I was curious how his health would keep up with his comeback tour. I think now we know the answer! I have to admit that I am not the biggest fan of Michael Jackson as a person…but as a musican he is unbeatable! His music is timeless and I think I will never get sick of it! Here’s one of my faves:

Another sad thing (at least sad for me)…today’s the 1 year anniversary of the murder/death of my little doggie!

I still miss him like crazy and he will always be in my heart and I hope he’s having a great time up there in doggie-heaven 🙂

I already put down some flowers on his grave:

R.I.P. beloved Rocky and invincible Michael

After reading Susi’s Blog I was kinda interested why/how my parents gave me the name “Juliane“…Unfortunately my story isn’t as cute as Susi’s. Mine is rather boring…! My Mom told me that she has always liked the name. She heard it once and then she immediately decided to name her next child “Juliane”. And I have to say that I am not unhappy with the name…I think it is quite nice(there are worse ones out there!!!).

Anyways every name has some meaning…and Juliane comes from the Greek word “the youthful

I remember when I was in High School there were a lot of people in my class who had similar names like Juliana or Julia…always confusing for the teachers.

I never thought my name was complicated but when I moved to the States (almost)nobody could pronounce my name the right way. Even my nickname (Jule) was too hard and the Americans made their very own version out of it: Jula.

They were actually pretty creative over there and gave me a lot of names…like Ula,Julie,Julienne,Julia and the strangest one I remember was “Jewel” (Jule pronounced the American way? ;)) In the beginning I tried to correct the people and tried to teach them how to say my name properly…but I gave up on that pretty fast and just got used to my new names :). I experienced the same thing in Finland (where I am living at the moment).Nobody can say my real name…but some people are getting really close though ;). But it’s ok…I think someday I’ll be able to write a book with all the new names people gave me in my life and the stories behind them..a true bestseller don’t you think?! 😉

Well…I still need some money for the flight but I’m kinda optimistic at the moment…

05.05.2009 – Helsinki

The day finally came!! Vappu is the crazy May 1st celebration the Finns do over here. It actually starts on April 30th. People meet at Esplanadi (a park) and have drinks and just enjoy themselves. All the Finns that graduated from High School wear their white graduation hat (reminds me of a captain’s hat) and the university student put on their overalls and march trough the city while partying! It’s hard to describe…you have to BE there!! On May 1st everybody meets in Kaivopuisto (a huge park in Helsinki) and has a picnic with barbecue combined with lots of alcohol (of course haha). The very extreme people party through the night, don’t sleep at all and show up in the park in the morning and continue their party. This year was actually the first year where I went to Kaivopuisto (I passed out last year after a too long and wild party haha). It was just amazing to see that many people there. 50.000 people in a park, wearing their graduation hats and overalls and going crazy with their beers/ciders in their hands! And the weather was perfect!! It was actually the first day of the year where you did not need to wear a jacket outside…GREAT!!
