Berlin. It was a regular Saturday except that I was in town and on a serious mission: shopping! I was so excited!!! I actually found quite a lot of good things. Except for the new purse which I’ve already had completely designed and made up in my mind a few weeks ago. Turns out no store actually knew what I want (read: need!!!) and my hunt for the perfect purse ended quite unsuccessfully.

In one of the shopping malls there was a stage built up with lotsa (weird) people waiting, singing, pushing, fighting (…) in front of it. At first I was a bit curious if the stage was put there for me (I mean…duuhh!!! lol) or for somebody else.

It turned out the (apparently very famous) German singer Helene Fischer was promoting her new DVD and gave autographs. To be honest, I have never heard of her before and when they started playing her music (way too loud) I knew why. Not my cup of tea.At all.

We were wondering why the city and stores were so crowded that day until we actually noticed that the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) was going on and that it made too many (ugly) people crawl out of their holes.

Later that night we decided to stroll around Potsdamer Platz which is one of my favorite areas in Berlin. We noticed the huge amount of nice and shiny BMW’s lining up in front of a building (edit: the back doors of a very nice hotel) and stopped for a second. There were lotsa fancy dressed people (which I did not know) getting into the cars. I got bored pretty fast and wanted to leave but a friend convinced me to stay just a little longer. Then I saw a woman in a beautiful dress (at first I thought it was a wedding dress)…the woman looked familiar (and so damn pretty!)but I could not really place her until my friend helped me out: “Diane Kruger“. She stepped into one of the cars and was taken to the Berlinale Award Show which was held in the theater right next doors. Oh well, hello carbon footprint!!! Whatever…at least she (and some other celebrities) looked beautiful while polluting the air unnecessarily. That’s all what counts these days 😉

There were so many people at the theater. People of all kinds. Young people, old people, ugly and unimportant people, beautiful and important people and ugly and important people and last but not least: awesome people like us 😉

haha my picture with Diane Kruger lol

We walked over to the theater and waited at the red carpet for a while. It was funny to see what kinda dresses people actually wear at a red carpet event…and then our friend Diane came along. She was giving interviews and was probably freezing her ass off in that outfit. I guess she was relieved when she could go inside the warm theater. We tried to get a nice shot of her when she was passing by but she was a bit too fast…

on her way into the warm theater

I just went into the store because I wanted to say “hi” to a friend, who is working there. But then I saw this necklace and immediately fell in love!

Best of all?? I did not have to pay…my friend gave it to me as a late birthday present. Love Love Love her!!!!!!!!

It is quite heavy though so whenever I wear it, I will not only bling but have a neck work-out at the same time 😉

Bling it on!

One of the things that I really missed in Europe was (and still is) The Cheesecak Factory! I just love that place and I was sooo happy when we went there for lunch yesterday. I had a white chocolate and raspberry truffle cheesecake and OMG it was heaven(again lol).

cheesecake factoryshuffling at least 1.000 calories into my system…it was worth it!

As the weather kinda sucked yesterday we decided to go to a mall and do some (serious) shopping. And guess who we met? The only other German in Dallas who is more famous than me:

dirk nowitzkiDirk Nowitzki and I 😉

After browsing through some stores I found THE dress:

Bling BlingJule – the discoball

Of course I had to try it on…it was not that easy to get in there(especially when you dont notice that there actually is a zipper which would make it easier 😉 ). I did not buy it though as I am on a budget and it was kinda expensive ;)…well, next time – for sure!

When we came back from the mall we chilled a bit and watched Mamma Mia! Today we mostly ran some last-minute errands and got ready for the rehearsal dinner. I’ve never been to one so it was very exciting! We drove to the Maple Manor Hotel, which is the wedding venue and rehearsed the procedure of the wedding and when and where people have to walk, line up, carry and hand over bouquets. I have to go down those kinda steep stairs in a very long dress and heels tomorrow and I’m kinda scared that I’ll just roll down those stairs…we’ll see how it ends 😉

When we were done rehearsing we went to an Italian restaurant and had some yummy dinner and after that we drove back home and had a little “Rock Star”(guitar hero) session with Queen songs. It was lotsa fun but I was getting very tired. And now I am still up telling you guys all that crap. I have to get up again in 6,5 hours the latest. We’re getting a pedicure and then we have to get ready for the wedding!Aaahhhh I’m so excited!!!! I’m kinda sad though cuz my “vacation” is almost over but at least we will all be celebrating and ending this great stay and Liz&Dave with a big bang!

Dave had an appointment at the hairdresser this morning so Liz and I decided to check out some stores at the strip mall close by…we were not very successful though as most of the stores sucked…so we just went to Starbucks to get some caffeine and sugar and to CVS to get some make up.

Later on we drove downtown and went to the Sixth Floor Museum in Dallas. It used to be an old warehouse for books and is the place where John F.Kennedy’s assassinator hid and shot the president on Nov.22nd 1963. It was so interesting to learn more about John F. Kennedy and the course of his assassination but it was kinda sad as well.

place of assassinationthe window to the right on the second last floor was the place where the assassinator hid

place where kennedy was shotthe white mark on the street is the spot where J.F.Kennedy was shot in the car

After going through downtown for a while we went to eat at that amazing Mexican restaurant whose name I forgot. The food was amazing and I caught a little sunburn as we were eating outside on the patio. It was very beautiful though!

Have I told you that some parts of Dallas make you feel you are actually in Mexico? A lot of things are in Spanish here and the way some buildings are designed just seems a little Mexican to me(although I have never been to Mexico).

We went shopping as well…and as Halloween is coming up we had to go into a Halloween store(of course) and guess what I found there?? The best Halloween costume ever!!

halloween costumeKillerponcho!!!

For those of you who don’t know yet: I am a big Ugly Betty fan and the outfit she is wearing in that costume just cracks me up every time I see it (for several reasons). Hahaha I just love the costume! But I didnt buy it(yet) cuz I am not really sure if I would even use it.

best scene ever!

Oh man…that was one rough weekend! Actually I planned on having a nice chilled and relaxing weekend as it was the last one before my trip but that did not work out quite well. I was sick (again) but this time it was worse. I felt horrible and sleepy and like staying in bed. But then I pumped myself with antibiotica and made a quick and spontanous visit to IKEA with Jenni and Enrico and bought stuff I did not really need…except for the new bright orange slippers ;).  This was followed by a little movie night. I thought I could just sit there and pass out. But noooooo of course Enrico and Jenni chose a movie which would cheer everybody up: MAMMA MIA! (which I’m gonna see again in a few days with Lizzie!!!)…so instead of falling asleep we sang…well Enrico did, I was just laughing!

The next day(which was actually Sunday already) was followed by some more antibiotica, hot tea and studying. I finally had to start my home exam for my “promotion” class.

school workActually I planned on having the entire exam done by the end of the weekend but that did not really happen. And I’m still not done as it is very complex. The deadline is Oct.30th but I want to have it done before I leave for Texas as I won’t have time and energy to do anything while I’m there.

Then Monday came and my voice was gone. Nice trade huh? Didn’t go to my morning class as I felt horrible but eventually I left the house to run some errands and because I was so depressed that I could not speak I cheered myself up and went shopping 😉 and it worked!!

It was like destiny…I went in there and I could see it from a galaxy far,far away…blinging and looking all amazing…my new treasure:

bling blingI look like a glitter ball wearing it but Christmas is just 2 months away and in between I’ll just wear it to some party (combined with black leggings and boots or heels?) or whenever I feel like being awesome 😉

Ok back home I worked on my exam again and kinda skipped my last evening class. And then I thought with me having been very poductive all day I could go to bed early tonight so I’m well-rested to start working on a presentation with my IMEA(International Marketing Analysis Programme) team mates tomorrow morning. Well I guess I have to do that without being well-rested…but that’s ok. I can do that because I’m awesome – at least that’s what people keep on telling me 😉

P.S. we had the first snow this season today!!! Don’t know why that sounds so exciting cuz I’m not ready for that yet 🙂
